I have found that so many people are unhappy with who they are and where they are in life, BUT they fight so hard no to change. They want to change, but doing something about it just seems too hard to do.
It seems as if a tipping point has to be reached, where your current discomfort finally becomes greater than the discomfort of going through a change.
This news story is just the tip of the iceberg. And yes, there are multiple factors involved here, from the drastic decline of “outside” time children have, the rise of the online world and all their accompanying games, to our dietary changes over the last 50 years.
And there is more. Read More
The sad saga of Toronto’s mayor Rob Ford never seems to end. It has gone from entertainment to an embarrassment.
And all the while Rob Ford maintains he does not have a drinking problem.
“Dr. Steven M. Melemis, a Toronto-based specialist in addiction medicine:
First, I’d try to help the person overcome their denial to their addiction. Almost everyone resists that one.” Globe & Mail
But Rob Ford is not the only one who maintains that there is nothing wrong, even when all those around are saying that “the house is on fire”. Read More

Just finished the Ultimate Wake Up and I have to share this story from that workshop with you.
My wife and I were travelling down a quiet country back road a few years ago and came across this HUGE snapping turtle in the middle of the road. And what did we do?
Well, we stopped the car of course, put on the 4 way flashers and out I got. Before someone hit that poor turtle on its journey to the other side of the road, I was going to be a good Samaritan and help it across.
Now this turtle was easily a meter in diameter, one of the biggest snapping turtles I have ever seen. And so I told my wife to stay in the car while I would carefully approach this beautiful creature from behind. I was planning to grab it
Hesitation has to be the greatest killer of ones goals and aspirations that I have ever encountered.
I have heard those actual words too many times over the years. Everyone wants more in their lives, everyone wants something better.
But most people are so stuck in their ways, in their comfort zone that no matter what the circumstances, they will find a way to stay where they are.
And so I am putting out a call for to anyone who really wants to change their lives. Coming up, right here in Ottawa Canada is a yearly event that changes lives, makes people move forward in ways they never dreamed possible.
If you are ready to “Live Your Purpose”, then click this link to our Ultimate Wake Up that is coming on November 1,2 and 3rd. or call our office at 613-592-8100.
Join us and change your life!
Take a moment if you will and listen to a former participant.
“During the summer of 2009 I was working at the local golf course and came across a sick Canadian Goose. I approached the Goose to see if I could help it, but upon closer inspection it became clear to me that it was on the verge of death and beyond saving.
Not thinking much of the encounter I continued working, until three days later when all of a sudden I lost the ability to extend my legs. Dumbfounded by what was happening I painfully tried to regain the ability to walk. With time some mobility did come back but, now I could stand no longer than two minutes without collapsing due to sharp pain in both legs.
The next few years involved numerous trips to specialists that were the “best of the best”. They did the full array of tests (MRIs, Ultrasounds, Nerve conduction studies etc.) to find the root cause of my problem, but everything came back normal.
Eventually the doctors began to ask me if this could all be in my head, but I knew it wasn’t. One by one they said “There is nothing left I can do for you” which left me with the empty feeling that I was going to have to live with this condition for the rest of my life.
By the fourth year of this illness I had given up hope and accepted my fate. My parents on the other hand never stopped trying to find a cure and one day sent me an article about a man named ….. Read More
One of my “Big Life Goals” has been to catch (and safely release) a giant Frazier River Sturgeon.
And for anyone who fishes, there is a big difference between fishing and catching. The difference is similar to the difference between dreaming about something and achieving that same thing.
And so, on my last birthday, after years of planning, I went fishing for the big fish. Take 80 seconds out of your day and witness a life-time goal being actualized!
And for anyone who wants to make their dreams come true, there is still time to register for the Ultimate Wake Up workshop coming up this November 1,2, and 3rd in Ottawa, Canada. This yearly workshop makes things happen. Go to the link or call our office and speak to Evie at 613-592-8100.
I can still remember last year’s workshop. Oh my goodness, the possibilities were opening wide in front of me. My husband and I had just returned from a trip to Hungary, and we’d sailed back to North America on the Queen Mary 2 before grabbing a train back up to Canada. Zsolt was starting a new job with a new company, and I was happy, healthy and cancer-free.
The world was my oyster. And yet, I somehow felt lost and uncertain in a strange way. Maybe it was from having experienced cancer first-hand, or the fear of it coming back, maybe it was from feeling displaced, or from not keeping pace with my peers . . . all I knew back then, was that there was a feeling within me, and it kept asking: What comes next?
So stuck with this lack of direction, despite all doors being open, I signed up for…. Read More
When I was a kid growing up in the small town of Edson Alberta, there was a magic drink that my mother refused to make. It was called Kool-Aid. My mother said it was nothing but sugar and wouldn’t make it.
But we got to drink it at my friends house, and I must say, it tasted a lot better than water. Orange flavored Kool-Aid was the best, tasted even better than real oranges and the color was the magic touch.
And then one time, we made Kool-Aid at our house. I can’t remember if it took 2 cups of sugar… Read More
Her upcoming 50th birthday has scared her into thinking about what she has done with her life and where she is going.
“I’m going to turn 50!” she said, as if that was the end of the good years in her life.
And that was where we started to dig deeper into what the real issue was.
No matter how you look at it, your weight affects your self-esteem. Just look at the ads for the Bernstein weight loss clinic. Did not matter that much of the weight loss industry might be hurting your health in a big way.
But things are changing in our society. For women especially, being fit is the new thin. That certainly has to be a much healthier trend as opposed to hurting your kidneys, destroying your blood-sugar ratios and causing anorexia that some weight loss programs end up doing.
I love looking after kids, and overall, they seem to like me. I’ve been looking after this little one for most of his life. Tim is 4 years old now and even though he knows me, he rarely speaks. He just looks at me with those piercing eyes of his and occasionally gives me a little smile. One thing I do know, his mom tells me, is that he does like coming to the office to see Dr. Tony. He even calls our community pool outside the window Dr. Tony’s pool.
This day, he followed me in the treatment room ahead of his mom. He sat on the stool in the corner and started to give me that gaze of his. Read More

There is a wide spectrum of what sick is, from simply being run-down to the absolute worst scenario. And we have seen a lot of children at our office, from new-born infants and up. And the one factor that seems a constant with respect to the health of your child is diet.
Mother brought in her colicky baby, about 9 months old. She had stopped nursing this little one and switched her to formula. Read More
Just went fishing with a friend this last weekend. He said he had never caught a catfish and so we went cat-fishing. And he caught some beautiful catfish!
But there were other people out there fishing who weren’t catching anything.
Why you ask? Because they weren’t targeting a certain type of fish. Just throwing a hook in the water does not mean you will catch anything.
And that got me to thinking, life is just like that. If you don’t get specific on what you want out of life, not much happens. Read More
