When it comes to our health, we like to think that we are in control. And if we are not in control, a quick visit to our family doctor will put it back into our control. One person I was working with recently told me, completely serious when he said this, I’m in great health! When I asked him if he were on any medications, he then listed one drug after the other. He was on a drug for his high cholesterol. “But as long as I take the drug, I’m just fine”, he said. And then he told me about the drug he was taking for his high blood pressure. And the drug he was taking for his blood sugar. And that his diet was working well, that he had lost 5 pounds over the last 3 months (he weights almost 300 pounds). He seriously thought he was in great health, that he had everything under control.
Makes me wonder how many other people think that they are in control of their health… BUT when you really think about it, perhaps we are in control of our health. That doesn’t mean we have to have great health, just that we are in control of whatever health condition we have.
Think of it this way, we all hear about nature versus nurture in what makes children the way they are. Science now shows us that we make our environment and that our environment results in our life, physical health and our success. That is a lot to comprehend, but it is so significant that you should take a moment to really think what that means. Our individual, unique lives are a result of what the environment has done to us AND our environment is a result of our lives to date. Talk about “what goes around comes around”. Watch this 4 minute video with Dr. Marcelle Forget, taken from a recent Ultimate Detox workshop that she hosted and you will begin to understand how your environment is impacting your life.
