Synchronicity

truckLet’s get something straight right from the start.  My stupid  truck broke down, refused to start and I wasn’t happy.  I tried boosting my battery, then tried replacing my battery, then tried charging the new battery before reality sunk in. It took 3 days for me to realize that my truck wouldn’t start and it was more than  a dead battery.

I called the garage and had it towed to them.  It was, as I feared, my starter.  It was dead, worn out, kaput, finished.  And the bill was going to be a lot more than a new battery.

But I was between a rock and a hard place, didn’t know how to replace the starter myself so whatever the mechanic  said was a go.

It wasn’t until I went to pick up my now fixed up truck that the garage mechanic asked me, “so where did it break down?”.  He was waiting to hear my tale of woe.  And that was when it struck me.  This dumb old truck was actually being pretty good to me.  It broke down in my driveway!  Now that was synchronistic.   Of all the places it could have broken down, this was by far the best place in the world to break down.  I use this truck to go fishing, sometimes to out of the way lakes.  If it had chosen to breakdown when I went to get my boat out of the water, oh the headaches I would have had then.  Don’t even want to go there in my mind.

Yup, she’s a pretty good truck.  A little rusty if you look close but I like how she looks after me.

Have you ever had something happen to you that at the time you thought was pretty bad, but with hindsight you now realize was actually a good thing?  I bet this type of sychroncity happens all the time.  We are being looked after, it is just that sometimes, in the heat of the moment, we forget that.  So share your story with the rest of us.

I like synchronicity. It happens to me a lot and it feels like magic!

It’s easier to recognize when synchronistic events are closely related like the times when I’m struggling with my e-bulletin software and I miss my publication deadlines, only to have someone ask me the following day whether they can pull an article or add an important message to my communiqué. My software seems to act up only on those occasions where a delay in my communications turns out to be a very good thing.

It’s a bit harder to observe when synchronistic events span several years. If I look back over my life, I see patterns where a bad event, such as losing a job, has set me on a new path where I meet new people who introduce me to new concepts, and my life becomes enriched in a way that wouldn’t have happened if I still had my old job.

Another type of synchronicity that I experience often occurs when I think about someone whom I haven’t seen or heard from in years, and within a few days, they contact me. Just last Thursday, I was commenting in Tony’s blog of June 8 titled “You Never Know”, about how my career coach had asked me a few years ago to provide guidance to a young PhD graduate. This past Monday, four days after I wrote in Tony’s blog, my career coach contacted me to ask me if I could provide such guidance to his daughter who is at the start of her career.

Humm… life is indeed mysterious! As Tony mentioned above, “We are being looked after”. My career coach gave me the tools to find the job of my dreams. Seven years later, I hope to do the same for his daughter.

We tend to want to judge everything as either “good” or “bad” but in reality nothing is “good” or “bad”, it just is.
The sooner you learn that, the easier your life will become.

There is a connectedness in this world. It seems nothing is alone, synchronicity shows that. Thanks for sharing Francoise.

Yes we are look after! So many things happen in my life I was guided, protected so many times. I like the expression “being looked after”. I have finished yesterday a year and a half of sick leave. It was a blessed time where i could reconnect with my self, the purpose of my life; understand where I’m coming from, why i act this way or that way. It is during that sick leave that my wife got guided towards getting a second college degree by only taking exam, and then got a job as an executive secretary on the school board. The first reason was to get an income to compensate the lost coming from my sick leave pay. But doing that made put her in a path of realisation. She is now contributing in society, as she wanted, undertaking a career that build her self-esteem and she is trilled about it.
And for myself i received all the email for several months from you guys but it is the first i open and the truck thing attracted me and as a result i was able to retrace some of the “synchro- protectability” lol of life or the universe. Once we realised that our life is surrounded by guidance and wisdom we can wait to walk the road of knowledge and discovery.

Thanks for your comments Stephane. It is nice to hear from you and to hear how you are growing.

Life is full of ups and downs, but there is a purpose behind it, that I am sure of. Such as my truck breaking down in my driveway. Take care and keep reading/commenting.
