I mentioned to a person the other day that they should check out our detox workshop. Their comment to me was that they didn’t worry about their weight, they looked after themselves, and on and on. The bottom line was that it was a hassle to take time, especially from a weekend, to look after themselves.
And that is so common, so many of us are looking for the easy way out, what ever takes the least amount of inconvenience. And I do understand that. Weekends are precious, and we don’t want to waste them.
But sometimes there are things that, although a pain to do, actually are worth the effort. It is kind of like the old commercial for oil changes. They would end the commercial by saying “pay me now, or pay me later” where the later was a much more expensive repair job on the car.
You know I’m right. So what is holding you back?
Hi Tony,
JP just finished his annual detox and I can tell that he looks slimmer.
Yesterday, after my workout with him, I said that one of these days, I would like to be able to see my muscles without having to flex them. He replied that I need to workout every day instead of just twice a week. My muscles feel and look so great the day after a workout with JP, that I’ll soon get it in my mind that a daily workout should become a daily habit for me.
I’m looking forward to the May 14 Detox Workshop to learn more from you, Marcelle, JP and Brian, and to get started on my annual detox. I figure if lose some fat like I did last year, I’ll get to show off my muscles even sooner
A daily exercise routine is now what is recommended not to lose muscle mass as we grow older. The only problem is how to keep motivated. Maybe looking in a mirror is the way to go, where you can see the results.
It’s funny that you should talk about looking in the mirror. When I first started off with JP, he would tell me to look in the mirror at the gym while I was exercising.
This would bother me since what I saw in the mirror was an uncoordinated person who looked, hum… fat. I was pretty sure that the mirror in the gym made me look fatter since I seem to look pretty cool in my mirror at home.
Now when I exercise in front of the mirror at the gym, I am looking more at my technique… how the positioning of my body creates success or failure. And yup, lately I’ve noticed how some of my muscles seem firmer while I’m lifting free weights.
As a personal trainer, JP is my key motivator right now for exercising since he pushes me further than I would normally go. He also advises me of my positioning to get the best use of my body without harming myself. Finally, he also gives me mind-over-body techniques to deal with burning muscles. The one I learnt last night was that when my muscles are burning, think of getting the Qi (my natural energy) to flow to that area to remove the physical block. I really like that suggestion since I’m starting to experience how the mind can overcome what the body is feeling.
I like using experts to teach me new ideas. It makes the learning process so much easier. JP’s knowledge of Chinese medicine works well for me, so I want to hear more.
See you on Saturday at the workshop.
Great insight Francoise. Thanks
