And that is what makes me question where this idea of being entitled to so much because of where you were born comes from. Our ancestors who came to this country did not have any free ride. I remember stories from my grandmother who was a homesteader in the early 1900′s. If she didn’t shoot a rabbit or partridge off the back porch during the day, there was no meat for supper, and sometimes no supper.

And there was no such thing as social assistance back then. And no health care and no free university education. But they persisted and built this great country of ours and today we enjoy a very high standard of living. But all this came as a result of a lot of hard work.

And now this generation of Quebec students think they are entitled to the cheapest university education in North America? And at a time when governments everywhere are desperately short of funds.

Do we live in a society of entitlement?

And what does this bode for the future of our country when the next generation truly believes they are owed a living?

And what is alarming governments the most is the future costs of this epidemic. “estimates that by 2030, the obesity rate in the U.S. will increase 42 percent from the prevailing rate of 34 percent. This equates to be roughly 32 million obese adults in the U.S., burdening the country’s health care system with a staggering $550 billion in costs by 2030 in 18 years.”

The same numbers for Canadians, as far as percentages also apply.  Yes, we are catching up to our American Cousins.  And that would mean that obesity will cost Canadian health plans about $55 billions dollars in costs by 2030!

You almost feel sorry for Dalton McGuinty, the Ontario premier, with his dilemma about the budget.

Note that I said “almost feel for Dalton”.  He has to be surrounded by a phalanx of “yes men” who blind him from the reality that the current system is broken.  How else can you explain the way he is running this province into bankruptcy.

As long as we keep focused on disease care and ignore common sense health care things will only get worse.  Years ago he cut out chiropractic care to save $100 million dollars a year, even thought government studies showed that fully funded chiropractic care would save the province $1 billion dollars a year in hospital bills!

So how about a common sense revolution?  How about a new and significant Sugar Tax on all things that have added sugar?  Boy, would that ever get everyone’s attention in a hurry.  And at the same time, would probably make people think twice before drinking another beer, or eating another doughnut.

Who knows, it could even start a whole new industry, smuggling in sugar from other provinces.

I know of so many people who will go to the beach in their clothes, but will not put so much as a foot in the water.  Why you ask?  Because they don’t want to be seen in their bathing suit.  And that’s too bad, that they deprive themselves such enjoyment.  But it is also understandable.

Weight is a HUGE issue in our society.  But weight gain is just the tip of a big iceberg and it is called our toxic load.

When we become toxic our body will dilute the toxins and encapsulate them.  And that is a major reason people we start to swell up.  But as long as we don’t “look too bad” most ignore their toxic load.

Simply losing weight does not cause you to detoxify your body.  In fact, losing weight can actually cause you to become more toxic as the toxins are now more concentrated in your tissues!  On the other hand, when you detox, you do lose weight!

How toxic are we as a society? Did you know that nursing mother’s  almost always have toxic milk that they are feeding their babies!

The New York Times article says the following: “When we nurse our babies, we feed them not only the fats, sugars and proteins that fire their immune systems, metabolisms and cerebral synapses. We also feed them, albeit in minuscule amounts, paint thinners, dry-cleaning fluids, wood preservatives, toilet deodorizers, cosmetic additives, gasoline byproducts, rocket fuel, termite poisons, fungicides and flame retardants.”

If you are a nursing mom, realize that switching to formula will not get rid of toxins as the formulas themselves have trace amounts of various toxins.  Detox yourself with something that has been scientifically proven.  It is the only way to go.
