When it comes to our health, we like to think that we are in control. And if we are not in control, a quick visit to our family doctor will put it back into our control. Once person I was working with recently told me, completely serious when he said this, I’m in great health! When I asked him if he were on any medications, he then listed one drug after the other. He was on a drug for his high cholesterol. “But as long as I take the drug, I’m just fine”, he said. And then he told me about the drug he was taking for his high blood pressure. And the drug he was taking for his blood sugar. And that his diet was working well, that he had lost 5 pounds over the last 3 months (he weights almost 300 pounds). He seriously thought he was in great health, that he had everything under control.

I think everyone likes Anderson Cooper. Did you know that his mother is Gloria Vanderbilt? Gloria Vanderbilt, a fashion icon, noted for her swan logo on the back of her world renowned skinny jeans.
So you would think that Anderson Cooper, of CNN fame would have grown-up with everything given to him. He should never have had to work a day in his life, like say Paris Hilton. But that is not the story of Anderson.
Let’s call this post, the “Awful Truth”. A recent poll commissioned by the Vancouver Sun has said what we already thought but wouldn’t say out loud.
So here it is: “A new poll of 7,600 men has found that half of men would dump their girlfriend if she gained weight, according to the Vancouver Sun.”

Two women, identical twins, whose father was an abusive alcoholic were studied when they were in their adult years. One woman was an alcoholic. When asked why she drank like she did, her answer was that she had no choice, she was a result of her upbringing.
When her sister was interviewed, it turned out that she abstained from all alcohol. When she was asked why she stayed away from all alcohol, her answer was the same as her sisters, that she really had no choice because of her upbringing.
