The more your educated, the more you’re aware of your body, and the more knowledgeable you’ll become.  However, the expression, “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing” can be very true – especially in health care.

Knowing all sides of a topic is necessary when forming a wise decision.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about: Did you know that there are different types vitamins?  There are water soluble vitamins and there are fat soluble vitamins.  Water soluble vitamins such as vitamin C will pass through the body in a relatively short period of time.  A fat soluble vitamin such as vitamin A will be stored in the body’s tissues and may become toxic if the dose is too high.

We all want to be in control of our lives and especially our health.  Finding a health mentor who can work in partnership with you and guide you along your path to optimum health is the ideal relationship.

For a number of reasons, ranging from our public health care system to the monetary reality of our world, most medical practitioners don’t have the time to spend with their clients that would be required for true health mentoring.  Western medicine is very good at crises management and that is what we have.  Preventive medicine is really up to each individual.

If you’re looking for a holistically oriented health mentor, look for the following:

  • Someone with a solid education in the health sciences.
  • Has a proven track record.
  • Has a holistic attitude towards health.
  • Someone who will listen to you and take your concerns into consideration.
  • Is open to alternative health care.
  • Knows their limits, and knows when it’s time to refer

Finding someone with the above qualifications is the ideal match to finding a health coach/mentor. When working with a mentor in this way you can begin to take control of your health – safely and effectively.

  1. France says:

    That is so true. Traditional medicine takes care of the crisis without looking for the cause. Looking for the cause of the crisis and treating that will cure the “crisis”, not just put a band-aid on it.

    That’s right France. One really does have to take responsibility for their health. The “Marcus Welby, M.D.” type of world that television gives us just isn’t real. You have to do your homework, get pro-active and take charge of yourself.

  3. Francoise says:

    I am fortunate that I have the support of many good healthcare practitioners.

    Common traits for all of them are:
    - they are experts in their fields;
    - they keep abreast of the latest developments in their fields;
    - they take the time to listen to me and to answer my questions;
    - they show a high level of integrity and are trustworthy;
    - their treatments generate good results; and
    - they teach me ways to improve my health.

    Dr. Tony Brunelle is one of the best. He has substantially improved my health and spirit through his chiropractic, alternative healthcare and life coaching sessions. I appreciate all he has done and continues to do for me through his tailored approach.

    Dr. Marcelle Forget brings wonderful insight in her life coaching workshops with a clarity that demystifies for me the questions, “What is my purpose in life?” and “How can I live better?”.

    J.P. Brunelle is proving to be very talented with his acupuncture and Tuina massage therapies, as well as with his Qi Gong exercises classes which are increasing my strength, flexibility and balance, and which I thoroughly enjoy.

    I am very grateful to have met such a talented family who are doing so much for me, and who are improving the health and lives of those around them.

    Excellent work!

  4. Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time Thanks for any help you can offer here
