I heard this again this week. “How are you doing today?” I asked.
“My back is ok”, she replied.
“Whats wrong?” I asked.
“I was just told I have cancer” she said.
I have something like this happen often enough that it is now common place. To say there is an epidemic of cancer is an understatement. And this post is not a “Blame the victim” post.
We are in a crises, living in this chemical world of ours. And the Canaries in the Mine are the people who are getting sick. What are the “Canary Diseases” you ask?
There are some things you can do to lessen your chances of getting sick, BUT there is no guarantee in life. Sometimes life just happens.
But with all the stresses in our world, emotional, financial as well as chemical it takes hard work to cope with it all.
There is a feeling of invincibility in the air. As if Dr. Marus Webly, M.D. will take care of everything when something goes wrong. Young kids starting to smoke knowing what it will do to them, yet they seem not to give a care. “Whatever” is the attitude. Until you get sick. And then everything changes. And then you find out that Dr. Marcus Welby isn’t real.
So what does it take to make people wake up to the realities that their eating habits, smoking and lack of exercise will get them, sooner or later? Is there an answer? Makes me wonder.
