“I Just Can’t Lose Weight”

That is a familiar refrain, especially from middle aged women.  “I exercise every day.  Pilates twice a week, weights twice a week and stair stepping on the other day.  And I just can’t lose weight.”

If only exercise alone would take care of the weight issues, oh what a beautiful world this would be.  But it just ain’t so.  Exercise is the hard way to lose weight, and it turns out, it’s quite ineffective. That’s because there is so much more to controlling your weight than just exercise.

There Are Many Aspects To Weight Control

There is diet of course.  This is front and center in the issue of weight.  And fad diets usually make the problems worse after a temporary weight loss.  And then there is blood sugar issues.  You can have blood sugar trouble and not even know it.  In a condition we call “oppositic” your blood sugar goes way up and then crashes.  And it then repeats when you eat something high in sugar content, and that might even be a vegetable!

And of course there are such things as food allergies, yeast infections, even parasites that can and will cause bloating and weight gain.

In my experience, no matter what the cause of your persistent excess weight, there is ONE THING EVERYONE SHOULD DO FIRST TO LOSE WEIGHT. And if everyone reading this blog will do just this one thing, most of you will lose 5 pounds or more!  So here it is, “The Lazy Persons Way to Lose Weight”.

Cut Out The Sugar

Cut out sugar in your coffee and tea.  Stop adding sugar to your foods.  Cut out the sweets, from candy bars to doughnuts.  Cut out the white refined  foods such as flour.  Cut out alcoholic beverages and limit your intake of fruits.  I have seen people cut back on the obvious sugars in their diet only to increase the amount of fruit, or high carbohydrate starchy foods.  It won’t work.  Sugar comes in many forms and you need to be aware of what you are eating.

Although this may seem like a small first step, it alone can easily take off  5, 10 or even 15 pounds.  Think of Nancy Regan, President Ronald Regan’s wife who came out with the phrase, “Just Say No!” You can do it, just say no to sugar.

And if you want to take control over your weight, gain more energy and clear that brain fog, then come to the  Ultimate Detox Workshop – More Happiness, Better Health, Greater Fulfillment Reserve your seat before this event sell out.

Humm, this sounds like me. I did cut out the sweets and replaced it by lots of fruit and some cheddar cheese for my snacks. After talking with Dr. Marcelle Forget about reducing the quantity of fruit I eat, I started switching to raw vegetables as my mid-afternoon snack. But JP Brunelle says raw vegetables are hard to digest and won’t give me the energy I need to do my evening workouts with him. He suggests cooked vegetables or soup which unfortunately I don’t like to eat in the mid-afternoon. So, I’m trying to see what I can do with lentils as in a lentil salad or soup for a 4 p.m. snack.

It’s not easy switching diets that fit with my preferences and lifestyle, but I’m trying.

I’m fortunate that my accountability partner encourages me to follow Marcelle’s diet plan since it works for her. JP is also encouraging me to workout five times a week, so I’m in the process of de-cluttering my basement so I can use the unused gym equipment that’s just sitting there.

I think 2012 is the year where all of my planning will work out since I have been clearing out my physical and emotional blocks to get on with the goals I developed in your November 2011 Ultimate Wake Up workshop.

When I feel like giving in to an unhealthy snack choice, I think of Marcelle’s words: “Are you sure you want to lose weight. If yes, why are you sabotaging yourself?”

Your Detox workshops are awesome. The tie in closely with recent research studies which show how junk food and unbalanced diets not only harm our hearts, liver and kidneys, but also our brains. Best of all, your Detox workshops show us ways to change our lifestyles.

It takes commitment and hard work to change, and you certainly are walking the walk Francoise.

  4. Lucie says:

Thank you Françoise for sharing on this blog. this inspires me to refocus my efforts on good eating habits and say NO to sabotage.

  5. Dr Marcelle and Dr Tony says:

Self Sabotage, that is it. And I have found that when you really crave a food, you are most likely allergic to it. And that causes swelling and weight gain.
