Attitude of Gratitude

This last weekend, the Ultimate Wake Up workshop was held in Ottawa. The people who gathered together for this were a dynamite bunch who were working on moving forward with their lives.

This was the most powerful workshop I’ve ever attended and that was the consensus of the people who were there as well.

I would like to share with you a gem that a person told me about. They said each morning when they woke up, they would take a few minutes to think of all that they were grateful for. Everything from the people in their lives to having running water in their home.

“Focus on What You Are Grateful For”

What a wonderful idea.  And with that said, let’s think about our soldiers past and present.  Tomorrow, Friday November 11 is special and should be honored as such.  Yes, federal workers get the day off, but it is so much more than just a long weekend.

So let’s take that moment on Friday to be grateful for all that those men and women have done for us and for our country and for our way of living.

I agree with all that’s said above.

As a child, Remembrance Day meant thinking about those who fought in World War I and II. Every year when I gave my donation, I would ask the veteran who gave me a poppy to tell me about his medals.

I would think of the stories my mom told me: how the war in Europe was declared on her fifth birthday, how the Germans occupied her island, how hungry she was. A few years ago, when my mom and I visited the “Atlantic Wall” in the Netherlands, I listened to her and the guide speak of the war – the guide was also five when war broke out.

I would think of my step-dad: how he was 19 when he went to fight in the Pacific, how much he admired Sir Winston Churchill, how he took me to see Sir Winston Churchill in a parade when I was six, and all his history books on the war some of which I read.

These days, I think more about our Canadian military who have been to Serbia, Rwanda, Afghanistan and other hot spots around the world. Most of them are younger than I am and have experienced war. I am grateful to them for choosing a difficult career whose intent is to keep us free from tyranny.

Yes indeed! It was the most powerful workshop I’ve attended but the other ones were also fantastic. I got so much out of each and every one of them.

Thank you so much for helping me and everyone there go forward in life with humph!!!

You are great people and have an amazing team. And I’m very happy that you are on mine :)

Took my son Daniel and son-in-law Zsolt to the Ottawa Remembrance Day ceremony. It is very emotional to see the veterans marching by, thinking of how much they have done for this country. Veterans young and old,. from WW II to Korea to today in Afghanistan and Libya. So much to be grateful for!
