Flu Shots – Yes or No

It has started again.  The local drug store is having a “Flu Shot Day”.  With that said, and all the questions about how safe they are, I have put a link to the Center for Disease Control’s web site on their side effects.

When it comes to such things as immunization shots and  flu shots, did you know that the Government of Ontario has forbidden chiropractors to speak out against them?  It is true, and they are quite heavy handed in enforcing their opinion of the immunization and flu shots.

So much for freedom of opinion.  That is a gag order if there ever was one.  So what do you do?  Do you get the flu shot and if you do, what has been your experience?  Would really like to hear from you on this.

I personally take Muco coccinum made by the UNDA homeopathic company in Belgium.  It works really well to both prevent and to treat the flu.  The only link I can find where you can read more is a sales page, but they do have the information on it, so click here to read more on Muco.

We have been selling this product for many years now and taking one, under the tongue till dissolved, on a weekly basis seems to make a big difference.   Call 613-592-8100 and ask Karen what we have in stock.  We try to make sure we always have some on hand.

Waiting to hear from you.

I haven’t had a flu shot in many years, ever since becoming aware of the controversy surrounding vaccinations in general. My attitude is that I would prefer my body to build up its own defences rather than rely on traditional medicines to do the work for me. I sometimes remember to take Muco as a preventative (which words well), but if I don’t, then as soon as any symptoms start, I reduce sugar intake and increase vitamin and similar supplements. My goal is to give my body the materials it needs to do the work itself, not use an artificial means to replace my body’s mechanisms.

Great advice Mark. Cutting back on sugar makes a huge difference. Sugar makes the body acidic and that promotes colds/flu. And sugar is almost everything white, from sugar, wheat, potatoes, even fruit and brown sugar.

  3. Francoise says:

Having lived in a tropical country where infectious diseases were rampant, I support vaccination programs. I believe that is why I was a healthy child and never had any of the common childhood diseases that my friends had (measles, mumps, chicken pox, diphtheria). One of my school mates died of typhoid fever and another had a paralyzed leg from polio.

At the age of 18 years, three years after my arrival in Canada, I developed “reactive bronchitis” resulting from environmental pollution, which today can still be triggered by certain pollutants. If I get a cold or the flu, my recovery could take 6 months instead of the average 2 weeks due to my weakened bronchi.

So as a preventative measure, I have been taking the annual flu vaccine for 10 years now, and it has been successful in preventing me from getting the flu. Vaccines prime my immune system to quickly spring into action… like having the old farm well pump primed in case of a barn fire.

I am more concerned about environmental pollutants which I have learnt to avoid based on my observations of what will initiate a bronchial attack (perfume, cigarette smoke, scented candles, my neighbour’s scented dryer sheets, freshly poured asphalt and asphalt sealer), than vaccines which I know work for me.

Another highly successful preventative measure against colds and the flu is GoldenSeal Tincture which JP Brunelle recommended to me many years ago. I always carry a bottle with me since it is a great disinfectant for the mouth and throat.

Thanks for your input Francise. That Golden Seal (liquid) really does a great job on sore throats, for sure.

Just had the Muco Coccinum recommended for my 18 month old – What are your thoughts for administering on such a young child?

  6. Dr Marcelle and Dr Tony says:

For children, even at that age, I recommend 1/4 to 1/2 of a muco tablet on a weekly basis. It is made from milk sugar, and the kids just chew it up. I never have seen anyone react poorly to this.
