One thing is certain in this life and that is that time marches on, no matter the circumstances. And here we are with another new year to contemplate.
The TV is full of stories today of how to handle a hangover to how to keep your New Year’s Resolutions. It is the same thing every year and the stories running on the television could easily be the exact same ones they ran last year. Maybe they are, who would remember anyhow?
Instead of the usual New Years hype, take a moment to look back on 2009 and see what you have accomplished over the last year. No matter who you are or what your circumstances, something must have changed. And remember that change is part of the process of moving forward.
Take a good look and you will see that you are not in the same spot you were one year ago today. If you have been working on yourself, self-growth and all that, you will be able to see a change. And that is part of your journey!
This last year I had two major accomplishments. My daughter got married to one of the nicest young men I’ve ever known. The second accomplishment is that Dr. Marcelle and I took a chance and completely re-invented our Ultimate Wake Up workshop. Didn’t know if people would love it or hate it, but we went for what we thought we needed to do and it worked!
Why don’t you share your accomplishments over the last year with the rest of the readers of this blog. We really are moving forward, often faster than we realize.

My sons and I entered a Robert Munch short story contest in November and we came in the top 10. The Kanata Kourier and EMC interviewed us and featured articles in their Christmas Eve editions.
I recruited a friend into my Creative Memories team.
I inspired 5 people to start digital scrapbooking, and gained the interest of a few more who might start in the new year.
I learned how to take better digital photos with my digital SLR camera.
I grew spiritually. I learned about the energy of life and everything in the universe and how we are all ONE.
I learned how to live in the Now.
I learned to live in the flow of life and appreciate the blessings in my life.
I learned to be more accepting of my children, my husband and myself as we are.
I improved my yoga classes and attracted students who are interested in relaxing their bodies and minds.
It was a good year!
I loved your last comment, “It was a good year!”
It really is amazing how much we do accomplish isn’t it? Often it takes a moment of reflection to realize how good a year we had. Congratulations on all your successes Jane, and thanks for sharing.
Hi Tony,
In 2009, I started doing volunteer work with Cat-A-Match Rescue, a no-kill cat shelter where we have over 50 rescued cats with wonderful personalities looking for good homes. I feel like I’m in heaven when I go there to deliver food, groom and feed the cats, clean their kitty litters, vacuum the shelter, and sometimes help with giving medication or subcutaneous fluids. The hard part is that we often see sick, injured, abandoned and even healthy cats coming in faster than we can adopt them out.
For example, while on my way to one adoptathon being held at a pet store where we were transporting 10 cats in two cars, we rescued a cat by the side of a country road who couldn’t move because he was near death from starvation. That day, we got two cats adopted, and brought Nuk Nuk back to the shelter. Nuk Nuk is now a big, handsome guy who likes to play a lot… a very different sight from the first time I saw him with his sunken eyes, where all he could do was meow softly for help while lying down by the side of the road. If anyone is interested in adopting or fostering cats or kittens, check us out at http://catamatch.petfinder.com.
Another heavenly experience was hiking in Jasper National Park this summer and seeing signs of grisly bear activity… it makes an impact when you see they can move huge boulders in rocky moraines or dig four-foot deep holes looking for marmots. Although there were several sightings of grisly bears and one trail I wanted to hike was closed due to a grisly and her cub being on the mountain, I didn’t see any bears this time. I do remember getting nervous on one trail when I stopped to rest and realized I was standing next to a buffalo berry patch filled with berries, in a season where there was a shortage of berries. I drank my water quickly and high-tailed it out of there.
I ended the year on a high note by taking the Qi Gong classes that your son, JP, is leading. I enjoy both the physical and spiritual aspect of these classes which make me relaxed and energized. JP is a very good teacher and brings the movements to life with his martial arts explanations and spiritual imagery. I’ve already signed up for his next set of classes which start on January 19, 2010. I highly recommend his Qi Gong Classes and Tuina massage therapy.
2009 was a good year, and thanks to you and Marcelle through your recent “Ultimate Wake Up” workshop, I’m working through my plans for 2010 which include tons of fun stuff to do.
Wishing, you, Marcelle and JP all the best for 2010.
