There is something happening in New York right now that has the potential to be a real revolution. Call it the American Spring (like Arab Spring).
It all started a few weeks ago when a few people in New York City got “Mad as Hell and weren’t going to take it anymore” about the fact that 1% of Americans own over 50% of the wealth of that country.
That and the anger about taxpayers money bailing out private, for profit banks and mortgage companies.
Main stream media ignored this for about a month, although RT has been talking about it for some time now.
This movement is growing, it is not going away and now, on CBC radio this morning they reported that it has spread to other American cities and now apparently Toronto’s turn is coming.
What’s it all about? A sense of helplessness, that is what it is all about. It is one way to vent and maybe make a change.
I would suggest that maybe something more personal would be helpful, such as working on yourself to get ahead. Check out Ultimate Wake Up because it is all about empowering oneself.
By one estimate Tuesday morning, “Occupy” events were happening in 147 cities, and much of that is the result of social media being used to recruit the young and the computer-literate.
That is from Reuters.
