Spring Detoxing

BIABody Cleansing, or  Detoxing,  It’s About The Food!

I am on day 6 of a 10 day detox.  It started with me being evaluated with a BIA or Bio Impedance Analysis  machine.  It confirmed my suspicions that I am skinny fat.  My fat content was up, even though I don’t look it.  It was actually a bit sobering, because there it was, hard data printed out of the computer showing how toxic I am.  And I know that I have a few too many McFlurry’s in the summer, but really.

And so began my 10 day journey into the detoxing or body cleansing world.  This program, we call the Ultimate Detox, eliminates certain foods and then slowly re-introduces them again.  In the meanwhile, I am taking a special protein powder that is formulated to remove toxins and heavy metals from my system.

So today I can eat apples, pears, spinach, kale , cauliflower and broccoli.  It is surprising how you can make them interesting with the right spices and cooking techniques.

But what I am most impressed with is how much food is central to our lives.  I know, we can’t live without it, but that is not what I mean.  Now that I am doing the Ultimate Detox, I have discovered how much our lives revolve around the social rituals of food.  Going to Tim Horton’s, or Starbucks for a coffee isn’t happening right now and I miss it.  It is not so much the coffee as the whole experience. I miss the atmosphere, going there, sitting there and on and on.  That is a surprise to me.

Anyone else experience these type of feelings during a detox program?  Let us know.

Oh yea, so far I have lost 5 pounds of fat, so I can’t wait to recheck my numbers on the BIA next week.

    Thanks Isabelle,

I am on day 10 and have lost 7 pounds of ugly fat! And I didn’t feel bad ever, no headaches etc. Just a craving for coffee at Starbucks every now and then.

And I’ve started pumping the iron. Woo Hoo!

I have done the detox before and always enjoyed the benefits from going through the process. This time I became aware of how much I enjoyed going to a coffee house from time to time for a mini holiday. It was really eye opening and lost 6 pounds with it… good stuff.
