Who else wants beautiful skin?  Well, that is one question that everybody should be putting their hands up in the air.  Of course we want beautiful skin, especially as the years roll on and our skin give away our real age.

Did you know that your skin, besides being the largest organ of the human body actually has a job to do?  It holds you together, that is obvious, but it is also your contact with the outside world.  Touch, taste, smell are ways that your consciousness assesses it’s environment.  And when you are hot, it opens up your pores and out comes sweat, to cool you down.  When you are cold, the skin pores close down and you begin to shiver.

But what really counts is how you skin looks.  Think of those beautiful babies with their unblemished skin.  Perfect, beautiful, radiant skin.

And then something happens.  We start to age.  And our skin takes a beating.  And that takes us to one of the major jobs the skin does.  You skin is an agent of elimination! Of course your kidneys and bowels eliminate wastes from your body, but so do the lungs and the skin.

Bad breath is your bodies way of throwing off toxic wastes through your lungs.  And skin problems like eczema and psoriasis are your skins way of trying to throw off toxins from your body that your bowels and kidneys aren’t able to do.  And then there are age spots, wrinkles and on and on and on.

So here is something positive that you can do to have beautiful skin?

8 Foods that will Give You Beautiful Skin

  1. Avocados are not just for eating! A good source of biotin, avocados help to prevent dry skin and brittle hair and nails. When applied topically, they can hydrate parched skin.
  2. Sip your way to healthy skin. Green tea’s high on the list of skin-friendly beverages thanks to its impressive storehouse of polyphenols. Aim for four cups throughout your day.
  3. Reach for tomatoes. A German study found that lycopene-rich tomato paste helped participants prevent sunburn when they combined it with olive oil, daily for ten weeks. Besides being a great source of the antioxidant lycopene, tomatoes are considered a high-carotenoid fruit. These nutrients may help slow down cellular damage from free radicals.
  4. Slow down aging with salmon. Salmon contains astaxanthin, a carotenoid that improves skin elasticity, so you’ll have fewer fine lines.
  5. Crack open some eggs. Protein helps repair cells that have suffered free radical damage. Eggs, a complete source of protein, also contain biotin, an essential vitamin that protects against dry skin.
  6. Put pomegranate on your list. When applied topically, this antioxidant-rich fruit may help skin create more collagen, while speeding healing.
  7. Try walnuts. Looking to add Omega-3 fatty acids to your diet but not a fan of fish? Walnuts are a rich source of Omega-3s, which help put shine in your hair and aid in making skin smoother and younger looking.
  8. Build better skin with beans. Another protein source, legumes help repair cells that have suffered free radical damage. During digestion, protein breaks down into amino acids, the building blocks of cells. Amino acids help to speed the repair and regeneration of skin cells and collagen.

  1. Francoise says:

I like the news about green tea since I drink between four to six cups of green tea per day. I like green tea better than coffee since I don’t add any sugar or milk to green tea (less calories), and green tea keeps me hydrated during the day. However, I’m wondering whether I’m drinking too much caffeine with four to six cups of green tea. What do you think?
