We hear about it all the time, but when it hits close to home, it is a whole different story. And that is what is happening to our family.
It is something that you never thought would happen to you, and all of a sudden it is in your face. The only questions are why and how? You don’t smoke, you don’t even drink, you eat healthy foods, you exercise and still you get cancer. And that is the truly maddening part. How come? What the hell is happening, and why my daughter?
Is it genetic? I don’t see that as no one in my family or her mothers family has ever had cancer. Environmental causes? Who can say. Emotional stress? Perhaps.
And sometimes there just is no explanation. Sometimes it just is.
And then what do you do?
Eventually you do the only thing you can do and that is take the next step, that’s what you do. You go from day to day, you pull yourself together and say, “alright, I’ve just been dealt a terrible hand, but I am going to play it as best I can”.
That is what my daughter is doing and her strength and courage are so inspiring to me. She has started her own blog about her journey, it is very therapeutic for her and I believe for others reading it. Click Here to go to the beginning and follow along from there.
Check it out and if you know of anyone with cancer, share it with them. Knowing you are not alone is a good thing.
